<FONT size=2>Ida Karni (I don't know her maiden name, but I'll ask) was
born in Czernowitz about 76 or 77 years ago.</FONT>
<FONT size=2>She studied sociology and ended up with a tough job as a
probation officer. She even received the Israel Prize, a very prestigious prize
received by only a chosen few for her extraordinary work in that field which is
not at all easy......</FONT>
<FONT size=2>Anyway, at the present time she manages a seniors Club "Olei
Merkaz Europa"which she calls her "kindergarten" People come to the club to play
bridge, to try their hand at painting, ceramics or scrabble. I always admire
Ida's patience, her diplomacy in handIing old people who are often cranky and
demanding. I myself don't do anything special there except for changing books in
the library and joining them for a trip here and there. And of course talk to
the Czernowitzers which I know, or got to know there. Average age: 65 -
90.</FONT>

<FONT size=2>So we have this kind of trip on Sunday morning. We fly out to
Eylat, check in the the luxurious Meridian hotel, and enjoy a mini-vacation.
Complains Bertie, my companion: "why oh why do I have to join these old
people?"</FONT>
<FONT size=2>He, at the age of 83, is still a youngster of course. Goes to
show you one is as old as one feels!</FONT>

<FONT size=2>We leave on Sunday very early in the morning, and will get
back - with God's help (as I was taught to say) on Thursday night.</FONT>
<FONT size=2>Keep well until then, and I do hope to find some nice mails
from you!</FONT>
<FONT size=2>All the best,</FONT>
