Whoever saw "Fiddler on the Roof," remembers the song, "tradition."

Well kissing the bread before disposing of it is part of our Jewish
tradition- heritage.

Once upon a time, <and there are still some Jews including me> Jews would
say a blessing over the bread. Since the bread has been blessed, it would
be a sin to just throw it away and so the tradition was born of kissing it
before disposing it,
