Hi again Czernowitzers -- I thought I should share with you Berti Glaubach's
interesting comments about the school photos I posted yesterday on the
website.
Today on e-bay there are two excellent pictures of a medal commemorating the
Feb.17th 1915 recapture of Czernowitz by the Austrians (at least that's what
I think it is). Point your browser at http://ebay.com and search on
czernowitz.
Best,

Hi Jerome,
The new photo's are 2 series taken at different times, but on same
location, probably the festival room of that school that might of course be
the same we saw in the bid you refer to. The bid was about the
Staatsgymnasium No 3 promovation in 1924 - I definitely identified my aunt
on it, her photo on the promovaton certificate she left to me, is the same.
These new photos are from a later time, circa 1930th is a good definition,
accords with the way they are dressed. I know that sometimes shortly after
1924 the Staatsgymnasium No 3 was disolved and integrated into the Rumanian
school system - with boys and girls separated. Don't recall any Hebrew
secondary school in Czernowitz. Will ask some older friends.
If it weren't about those 3 photo's on the wall that lhave the look of very
very gentile professors, I'd suspect some Jewish student organization, --
difficult to know.
