Greetings Czernowitzers!

1. The Cemetery Section has been completely redone to include:

- A collection of 16 photographs by Cornel Fleming, taken this year which
depicts very well the state of decay of the stones and grounds. And in case
you were wondering what the Rabbi from Czernowitz looks like, this is your
chance to find out. Don't forget to use your scroll bars when viewing these
pictures;

- A new section by Melita Fuhrman Vickter dedicated to the restoration
project for the Czernowitz and Sadagura cemeteries -- again the pictures are
a bit bigger than the viewing frame;

- A chronology of events describing Czernowitz-L's participation in the
Czernowitz cemetery burial register transcription project along with the
original examples of the registers. To see all/any of the above, click on
'Czernowitz Cemetery Projects' in the Menu.

2. A new Czernowitz Post Card section has been added with high resolution
scans contributed by Ignacio Sternberg. Fifteen cards have been posted so
far with a promise of more to come. Especially interesting (to me anyway) is
an extraordinary card of the 'Temple'; it's certainly the best picture I've
ever seen of it. All the above scans have been posted as so as to fill the
screen at 1024x768. I have the original .tiff files of the scans that
Ignacio sent if anyone is interested in them (higher resolution than what's
been posted by far) -- just email me with your request. Again, use your
scroll bars as the pictures are larger than the frame that contains them.
Just click on 'Czernowitz Postcards'.

More postcards... Vlad Sinayuk is sending by post, a collection of Russian
era cards that I will scan and post to round out our collections.
=======================================================
3. The Czernowitz Family Finder has been updated several time since my last
post to the group. We're just shy of 300 surnames.
=======================================================
4. Because I am getting occasional emails from folks that are surprised to
find that the list has a website, here's the link to get to it:
http://members.shaw.ca/czernowitz/ A Menu on the left side of the page
allows you to navigate the site.

Finally, if when accessing the website, something doesn't work, or doesn't
seem to work correctly, just drop me an email describing the problem and
I'll check it out. Different web browsers can interpret the code somewhat
differently, so in your problem description, tell me what browser you're
using and what operating system..

Best regards,
jerome
