[Cz-L] News from the website - 3 May 2006

Greetings Czernowitzers!

The following is new on our website http://czernowitz.ehpes.com as of 3
May:

1. A selection of posts from the 2006 Czernowitz Reunion group has been
added. Click on '2006 Reunion Group Posts' from the menu.

2. The very extensive Czernowitz 'reading list' from reunion list is
separately accessible from the menu as well.

3. Notable Czernowitzers has been updated.

4. The Archives have been updated to 2 May.

5. The Reunion News has been updated

6. In the Miscellaneous section, I have added an html spreadsheet of
over 600 Czernowitz Societies' burials at Mt. Hebron cemetery in
Flushing Queens (NYC). The original spreadsheet was given to us by
Steven Lasky of http://www.museumoffamilyhistory.com fame. To view this
data, Click on Miscellaneous Items from the menu -> Czernowitz Society
Burials.

7. One of the most neglected parts of our website is the 'Links to Other
Sites' section. I would be most pleased if someone was interested in
collecting Czernowitz/Bukovinia related links for the website. This is
another one of those high pay, high prestige website jobs that opens up
from time to time. If you missed out on the Translator position, you
might want to consider the LinksMeister position.

Basically, all you would have to do is to be able to navigate around the
web looking for the same things that you're interested in already:
Jewish genealogy, Czernowitz, Bukovina, maps, photos, stories, etc. When
you find something interesting, write down the address of the website;
write a short description of what can be found on the site, and send it
to me. I'll add it to the 'Links to Other Sites' page. As well, when I
do the monthly updates, I'll remind our members to send you whatever
links they have found. Lastly, we should be on the lookout for sites
that we would like to link to us. The more sites that link to ours, the
higher we are likely to be in our position on various search engines. If
you're interested in being the LinksMeister, send me an email.

8. Actually, we're not doing so bad with respect to the search engines
these days (after some tutoring from an Israeli wizard): I just did a
search on the keyword 'Czernowitz': at msn.com, we're first; at yahoo,
we're 4h and 14th; at aol.com, the redirect is first, ehpes.com is 14th;
and at at google, the redirect is first and ehpes.com is 14th.

The redirect is a one page website at our old address
'members.shaw.ca/czernowitz' that automatically takes you to the new
website in 20 seconds. No idea why it's first (longevity?), but I'm not
going to tamper with success, since it gets the surfer to our site.
