Hello,
have you ever heard of the famous painted monasteries of the Bukovina?
Well, Moldovitza is one of them. We're talking about a nunnery, the
village around it, and a cluster of other villages going up into the
mountains from there. The farther up you get, the more "Russians" you're
likely to meet, that is, a sort of Ukrainians, so that's a good reason
why that village (or, a part of some village) used to be called "Russian
Moldovitza", or so. I've been in the area once, and I'm actually pretty
sure there's no such name anymore, possibly we're talking about the
village of Argel. It's a very interesting area.
Best, Jane.
