Greetings Czernowitzers!

This is a bit of a stretch, but since all of my known Schattens came
from Podhajce and ended up in Czernowitz, I thought I would post this
here first to see if anyone in our group has any suggestions for me.

I think Baruch Schatten lived in Israel after WWII. He wrote the chapter
"The General Zionist Movement in Our City" for the Podhajce Yizkor book
(Sefer Podhajce) that was produced in 1972 in Tel Aviv by the Podhajce
Society. Obviously he survived the Holocaust, and since he appears to
have been an ardent Zionist, I thought it a good bet that he made it to
Israel either before or after the war.

From talking to other Schatten researchers, it also appears that all
the Podhajce Schattens are related, thus this is a new lead for me.

Are there on-line resources that might tell me if he or his descendants
live(d) in Israel? Does this Podhajce Society still exist?

Where to begin?

Best,
Jerome Schatten
