Greetings Czernowitzers!

1. The FamilyFinder, Notable Czernowitzers, Reunion page, and Archives
have again been updated.

2. A new section has been added to the Czernowitz Cemetery Projects area
to reflect Helmut Kusdat's project to restore the Leichenhalle at the
cemetery. There are some very excellent pictures of the inside of the
mortuary, including the 1905 dedication plaque. If you haven't seen the
inside first hand, this is your chance. On the home page, select
Czernowitz Cemetery Projects and then click on 'Mortuary'.

3. Jane Rostos has sent a picture that she took in the Jewish quarter of
Botoshani; it's posted temporarily at:
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/new/rostos/rostos.html
and will be moved to a general photo collection soon.

4. Ivor Lobel has graced us with four German maps from a large family
held 1897 Atlas. The current map on the home page is some of his
handiwork. All four are now in the Maps section. Go to the website and
click on Maps; from there you can click on each of the four maps. They
are in my mind, extraordinary (you can tell I love maps). Ivor
photographed these maps as they were far too large to scan, and still
they are just sections of the atlas maps. I had to reduce the file sizes
to accommodate putting them on the website. The files are still large,
but certainly worth the download time. If you require higher resolution
images, say for printing, let me know and I'll attach it to an email and
send you what I have. If you have questions about other maps or the
atlas, or the techniques Ivor used, you can pick up his email address
from the Family Finder (look for LOBEL).

5. I've been getting email which I think should have gone to the list,
but instead was addressed to the original list of names for the Reunion
Sub-Group before it was put up on Yahoo. Remember, stuff for the list
goes to: czernowitz-l_at_cornell.edu

6. We're on a roll with new material from Cornel and Mimi which is
currently being worked on by the website elves. Look around and see what
you have that may be of interest to the group. Still lots of space on
the website.

7. What, you don't know the URL of the website because you're new to the
list? It's http://czernowitz.ehpes.com

Best,
jerome
