Shalom Tal,
According to Beider's book of Jewish surnames, Zwecker with that spelling
was found in Cieszanow. There are several other spellings and it might help you
to get some key documents to confirm the spelling used when your family came
to the US such as ships passenger list if you have not already done so.
According to Beider, Zwecker comes from the root name Zweck which is
German for
purpose and is listed as being either an artificially created name or an
occupational surname and the book refers the reader to Cwiek. This is a Polish
spelling meaning Shoemaker's peg or hobnail and would be a name
possibly given to
someone who was a shoemaker. Hope this is helpful to some extent.
