Shalom,
I believe that many of Bukovina's Jews immigrated
after the rising tide of post WW1 anti-Semitism. Some
of my ancestors who were living in Cernovitz fled to
Zurich, Swizterland, and in doing so saved their lives
from the oncoming Nazi/Iron Guard onslaught.
I also know that a substantial portion of Romania's
Jews made aliyah around this time (estimated that
345,000 Romanian Jews made aliyah)
