The brewery in the Brueckenstrasse operated through the Romanian period and
beyond. It was known as the BERESA (Bere Societate Anonima). It's main
stockholder was Max Ritter von Anhauch, a Jewish industrialist from
Czernowitz who was knighted by Emperor Franz Joseph.

As to rope manufacturing, I don't have any specific recollections, but there
must have been some of it because a frequent Czernowitzer expression was
"...geh haeng Dich auf!".
