Jerome et al,
This is an opportunity that I hope the group will not pass up! They are looking for help, and would be grateful to us for any help. Well, we would be grateful for help from them in cleaning up the cemetery!
This may sound pretty repitious to some. I have been on this soap box before, however, this request just begs us to act. If I was more of a diplomat I would compose the letter myself, but unfortunately, my attitudes do not lean in that direction.
I am not suggesting we say yes only if they respond to us first. I would agree to their request and say in the same breath that we need their help. They are spending millions of Grivna to prepare for the city anniversary, surely this project deserves some of that money.
I know there are many who will say they will never help. I agree they will never help... if they are not asked. We have nothing to loose and everything to gain, for ourselves, our ancestors, and our decendants.
Let us put a positive spin on this, and perhaps we will all come out winners!
BTW, unless they have had a very recent election, this is not the mayor. The mayor's name (and e-mail) can be found on the city website.

Subject: [Cz-L] Letter from Chernvitsi...
Czernowitzers: Today I received this email from the City Council in
Chernvitsi. I thought you would be interested in it, and possibly to
respond to it with your ideas and suggestions.
>From my personal perspective, I have always considered the materials on
this website to be in the public domain; freely accessible without
copyright restriction, but with the one caveat that: those using the
materials attribute them to the original owner if known, and to this
website.
So, my proposed response to the Council would be to allow them to use
whatever they deem appropriate to their needs from our website in their
anniversary celebrations. I would like to think that such a response
could go out under the signature of the listmeister, the webmeister, and
the members of the list.
If you have advice for me on this, let's discuss it. BTW, I can't make
out from the message if Volodymyr Kylynych is the mayor or a counsellor,
writing on behalf of the mayor, can you?
Best,
jerome
