I want to add my agreement to those who favor making information available
to the Chernvisti government. Exchanges like this increase the climate for
reciprocity, so that information that they can make available to us will not
be withheld, and visitors in the future will be welcome. I also note
exchanges relating to the synagogue having become a theater: if there is
ever an opportunity for its restoration as a synagogue, it is imprudent to
be mean and forclose this sort of chance.
I also believe it is a civil thing to do, and these days we can use all the
civility we can get. I agree that a request for attribution is reasonable.
I am also thinking that as Israel is, perhaps, sliding into another war,
gestures like this foster an image of Israel and Jews as decent people doing
what they perceive is necessary for survival, rather than oppressors and
demons. I am not suggesting a PR manipulation, but simply advocating,
making the truth what is perceived.
I think the webmaster is the one to respond, but after a reasonable
opportunity to ensure that there is no strong consensus against agreement -
which should only take a few more days.
Regards
Bob
