I am a 48-year old Austrian woman living in Graz. My great-grandmother
Helene, born in the 1870s (mother=B4s grandmother) whose maiden name was
von Issecescul (Isacescu) moved to Austria from Czernowitz in with her
husband ... Mayer, who was the director of the Landwirtschaftsschule on
Czernowitz and later became the "Stadtkommandant" of Spittal an der
Drau in Carinthia, Austria. Her brother=B4s name was Leon von Issecescul.
Helene died in 1923 in Spittal an der Drau.=20
=2E.. Mayer and Helene Issecescul-Mayer=B4s children were:=20
Stefan (1890-1981, lawyer, graduated fron the University of Czernowitz
in 1913, was a soldier in the I. World War, moved to Linz, then to
England in 1928, married 1928 a widow named Helen Howes, a physician,
was sent to Dusseldorf in 1951 (British Occupation). After retirement
he emigrated to Zambia where he practiced as a lawyer. He then moved to
South Africa (Durban) where his wife died in 1966. He remarried 1966.
Mayer and Helene=B4s daughter Maria (February 28,1895 - January 3, 1966)
my grandmother, married Franz Reiss and lived in Linz where she was
hidden during the Nazi era and so survived the Shoah.=20
Michael (emigrated to Argentina in the 1920s) and Johann.
The only references I could find regarding my ancesters are a street
name in Czernowitz (Issecescul Gasse) and the mention in Adrei
Corbea-Hoisie=B4s book "Czernowitz" of Kreishauptmann Issaczeskul who
made it possible for the Zaddik Israel Friedman to settle in Sadagora.
I will be happy to hear from anybody who has information about family
members, background, people with the same family name - anything!
