[Cz-L] Czernowitz - Bukowina meeting

Dear Czernowitzers,

This is a partial repeat of a message I sent you on Aug. 31st,
to which I have so far not received any answers.

We have agreed that we shall have a meeting of Czernowitzers
and Bukowinians in Israel starting either March 26, or April 16th.
We have had a number of suggestions about the content or program
of the meeting and a number of people have agreed to help in planning
and organizing the meeting.

The question is how to proceed further;

1. Shall we first have more discussions, or shall we first set up a
   committee to plan and organize the meeting?
2. Shall this committee be elected, or shall it consist of volunteers?

If I remember correctly, for the Czernowitz Reunion 2006, we, as a group
discussed and voted on the date, duration, location, name and proposed items
on the program. Other decisions as well as the implementation were left up
to the committee. We can follow the same procedure this time or we can make
whatever changes we agree on.

My own opinion on the two questions above are:

1. I think that we should first have more discussions on what we consider
   the main purpose and focus of the meeting and only then proceed
   to set up a committee which will make decisions on details and do the
   work of organizing the meeting.

2. I have a slight preference for a committee consisting of volunteers,
   but do not object to an elected one. I think that the committee members
   will have to take care of the following functions:
   A. correspondence and information, possibly we need two people,
      one to correspond in English and one in Hebrew.
   B. arranging a venue for the meeting and taking care of the
      business aspects.
   C. finances; collect fees and disburse necessary payments.
   D. organize program of talks and discussions.
   E. organize exhibits and displays.
 
So we can proceed with the planning and preparations, please send the
Cz.-List your answers to the two questions above, also suggestions regarding
these and any other questions and aspects of the proposed meeting.

Please write by Sept. 15th and on the subject line of you Email write:
" discussion about meeting".

For the next week I may be slow to answer my mail, I'll be away from home.
Are there any Czernowitzers in the San Francisco Bay area?
