Greetings Czernowitzers!

The Cookbook: I've been working with Michele Troup who has kindly agreed
to do the layout, artwork and assembly for the cookbook. She has
produced a sample page as a pdf file and I've produced the html version
from that. You can see both, here's how:

For the pdf version, go to:
http://ehpes.com/test/CZ_Cook-Book.pdf
Of course you will have to have Acrobat Reader installed on your system
to see the pdf version.

For the web version (not as pretty) go to:
http://ehpes.com/test/zwetschkenknoedel.html

It will be possible for you to print a paper version of the cookbook
from the pdf files right on your own printer when everything is
complete. And, if we decide to do so, a published version can be printed
from the pdf version as well.

Now, all we have to do is to get the recipes rolling. Just send them to
the list. Michele will collect them from her email. This way a copy of
your recipe(s) will end up in the archives as well.

Is there a Bukovina Latke recipe? What kind of a Jewish cookbook
wouldn't have a Latke recipe? Here in Vancouver, I have won the East
26th Street Latke Bake-off contest 11 years running. What do you mean I
was the only contestant? Anyway, I promise I will personally test all
Latke recipes!

I'm just reading Mimi's recipe for Mamaliga. Now I've never tasted
Mamaliga although my father often mentioned that his mother made it. As
I was reading the recipe, I was trying to imagine what the final product
would be like. I couldn't. Is it soupy, is it solid -- how would you
describe it? For example, the Zwetschkenknoedel recipe was sub-titled
'Plum Dumplings' What to say about Mamaliga? Same with the Ghiveci.

Maybe this is a male thing, but I need a description of what I'm about
to make before I rattle those pots and pans. Over to you Mimi!

The Website: Finally, the List Members' Biographies section is up on the
website.

It's right above List Members' Pages on the home page menu. Some Bio's
were taken from the introductions on the 2006 group, others were sent to
me. Sometimes I had to guess at how the surnames should appear (hyphen,
no hyphen but a space, etc.), so you should take a look and see if yours
is to your liking.

Changes in the Bio's can be easily made too. Now only 38 some odd are up
out of almost 300 members, so this is an obvious call for more. Get them
to me direct or post 'em to the list. What I posted is what I had
gathered minus what got lost in the shuffle, so if you sent one and it's
not up, please send it to me again.

The Archives and the Family Finder have been updated.

That's it for now...
