Dear list members,
I have no personal roots in Czernowitz but im interested in literature and history, so the city is no unknown place to me. I visited Czernowitz and Sadagora in November 2006 and published some photos in the web: http://www.cyberorange.net/galleries/czernowitz01/index.html. A special focus in this series is on the city´s jewish heritage.
When walking through the city and taking pictures I was concerned about the bad condition of many of the old synagogues. Does anybody know wether there is an initiative to safe and protect them or any initiative to make a museum, a documentation centre or an memorial of one of them? If yes, I would be glad to come in contact. But also feedback on the photos or inspiration for further journeys is welcome!
With best wishes
Christian Herrmann
