Dear List Members!

Since I am new to your group, I would like to introduce myself.
I was born at Czernowitz as an only child. All memories about my native
town, where I passed the first years of my childhood during the Second
World War, are still alive. Although I was a very little girl at that time,
I remember the Ghetto, the hiding and everything we passed through in these
bad days.

My late Mother, Fanny Bartfeld nee Andermann, was born at Suceava, Bukovina.
My late Father, Markus Bartfeld, was born at Itzkani, Bukovina. After the
War, I left Czernowitz at the age of 8. We then lived for 5 years at
Bucharest, Romania and then came to Israel with the big Aliya of the
Fifties. Here I grew up, studied, made my Military Service in the Israeli
Army and went on with my life: marriage, family and career.

I am a CAD-CAM Machinery Draftsman and an artist. I have studied Art in
Italy and in Israel and have taken part at several art exhibitions
(painting). I enjoyed working for many years in my technical profession as
a Draftsman in High-Tech and now I am retired. I know many languages. My
Mother tongue is German.

For more than 5 years I am a widow. My late husband was a Lawyer and a
Notary. I am happy with my family:
I have three sons (two of them are married) and three grandchildren. Two of
my sons are Doctors and the third one is a Lawyer.

I live in Israel, have many friends and enjoy being active. I never visited
Czernowitz again after leaving it as a child. Therefore I am glad to be a
Member of the Czernowitz Group and am looking forward to the March 2007
Meeting in Israel.

Best regards to all of you and a Happy Hanukkah!

Shalom!

Gerti Nahum

nee Bartfeld-Andermann
