Dear Bruce
There seems to be some mistake.
1. All the places (except Czernowitz) mentioned were at that time
over the northern border of Great Romania in Poland.
2. You surely know from your visit that Czernowitz is located on
hills quite high above the Prut.
3. There was a town named Czernivitza or something like that in the
Stanislaw (Ivano-Frankisk today) area.
I know that because my maternal Grandfather had relatives in that
area (Kolomea, and Obertin).
