Dear All,
I am happy to inform you that according to Mr Yula Weiner of the WOBJ, with
whom I have been in contact regarding MR Zissels and the planned museum, has
informed me today after personally speaking with Mr Zissels that although
the museum will concentrate on Jewish Cz till 1940, there is no intention to
ignore the holocaust and that it will be presented as has been explained to
us.
The WOBJ has promised Mr Zissels its full support in this project (books,
photos, documents etc).
Mr Zissels will come again to Israel on May the 5th and a meeting with him
at the WOBJ will hopefully take place, where more details and ideas are to
be exchanged.
Mr Weiner has also asked me to inform the list of the upcoming cultural
event organized by the WOBJ. The Bukowina cultural evening will take place
on May the 14th, at the Beit Zionei America in Tel Aviv (Daniel Frisch st)
and will include a lecture by Prof Yavetz, piano pieces by the pianist Thea
Refaeli and some Yiddish songs sung by Gil Kremer. Tickets are now sold at
the office of the WOBJ (30 NIS each, including coffee and refreshments).
Tickets won't be sold on May the 14th on the premises.
HAG SAMEACH

Dear Czernowitzers,
Like some who have commented on this letter before me,
I am very pleased with the detailed information about what
will be included in the displays about the holocaust.
I have no further doubts and questions and think that we
should provide Natalya Shevchenko with:
1. A chronological list of the events pertinent to
the holocaust in the Bucovina, including dates and numbers.
2. The laws and restrictions against Jews enacted during
the period 1940-1944. The exact wording of each law or order,
can be found in the book by Radu Ioanid: Holocaustul in Romania.
This will have to be translated into Ukrainian.
3. Copies of documents which are evidence of the horrors of those years.
4. Personal photographs appropriate for documenting this period.
5. suitable photographs from public sources (such as burning of the Tempel).
I am leaving for Toronto tomorrow, so will not have time to write to
Natalya Shevchenko for some days, but as soon as I can, I will ask her
for the best way to send material to her.
Best wishes for a happy and peaceful Passover,
Mimi
