Hardy may have a point that a mistake in spelling on a plaque is not
a mortal sin but why should we not do it right?
My wife was born in Bucharest and for the first 35 years of our
marriage we spoke Romanian.I still have many friends with whom I
speak Romanian. That is why I feel that I should put in my 2 cents
worth of opinion. The Romanian version should be:
AICI A LOCUIT TRAIAN POPOVICI (1892-1946)
IN 1941 IN CALITATE DE PRIMAR AL ORASULUI CERNAUTI
A SALVAT DELA DEPORTARE IN TRANSNISTRIA SI PROBABIL DELA MOARTE 19600 EVREI
IN VESNICA RECUNOSTINTA SI AMINTIRE ETERNA DIN PARTEA EVREILOR CERNAUTENI
