Hi,

Today I put online a 1912 wedding photo of Bruno Meisler and Berta Brandes,
taken in Czernowitz. Perhaps some of you know that Berta was the principal
of the Meiserschule in Czernowitz.
You can also find the photo with the full matte and backing (Krzanowski
studio) on my Photo Studios page.

I will also be adding some audio to the exhibition in the not-too-distant
future, so the exhibition will become interactive and multimedia (though
already you can find the Josef Schmidt page with one of his arias under
"Voices of Czernowitz.")

It was suggested to me that it might be a good idea to present at least part
of the text of the exhibition I'm creating in languages other than English,
e.g. Ukrainian, Romanian or German, or any combination thereof. This would
enable others around the world to appreciate what I've done and learn about
the Jewish past of Czernowitz. From my point-of-view at least--and probably
I have suggested this before--that having an online exhibition is the
greatest way to disseminate information about Czernowitz, to so many people
all over the world. The only thing preventing such access is knowing that
such an online exhibition exists, and the fact that many may not have access
to a computer, etc. However, once word is spread, one will learn about the
exhibition, and if the desire is there, it is often possible to find someone
with a computer who can help the person view the exhibition. So to me, such
a presentation, especially if it can be done in either some sort of
narrative form or as I suggested with selective audio clips, this is even
better (and will last longer than the 600th yr. celebration).

Of course, I would need to find someone who could translate passages of text
to the desired language, as well as someone to read the text, be recorded,
etc. I can record by phone and create the clip that way; however, making
such phone calls out of the country (US), might be unusually expensive. Of
course, a person could make the clip at home and email or snail mail it to
me if they so desired.

Anybody think this would be a novel idea? I already know how to make audio
and video clips, so it wouldn't be difficult as long as I had something
proper to work with at home.

Best,
Steven Lasky
