The NGO organization, SCI Ukraine, has decided to go ahead and hold
a work-camp in Chernivtsi this August, with the purpose of clearing
part of the Jewish cemetery of weeds and bushes. They have settled
procedural matters with the city administration, have already made
arrangements with a number of young people from various countries to
volunteer for this two week work-camp and are advertising for more
young people to join.
If Jerome agrees, the info-sheet announcing the work-camp will be posted
on the "ehpes" site. If you know of any organizations, which may be
interested in sending volunteers to this camp, please spread the
information. This project is important not only for the clearing
of weeds from the cemetery, but also in order to bring together
young people from various countries, in effort to teach tolerance,
understanding and mutual respect.
I already have assurances that next year, there will be a larger work-camp,
hopefully to clear the whole cemetery.
You may write to me privately for more information.
All the best,
Mimi
