By coincidence, I received today from Peter Elbau, a portion of the
"Alter Stadtplan" which includes the Karolinengasse.
#8 Karolinengasse is the corner building of Karolinengasse
and Musikverein Gasse, or Iancu Flondor and Porumbescu.
This is diagonally across from what used to be the Hotel Bristol.
Currently the hostel of the medical academy.
In the old Stadtplan, where the hotel is now, there is the Rudolfsplatz.
Questions: When was the hotel Bristol built? And how is it that in a
relatively crowded part of town, a public square was eliminated
to build a hotel?
