Can't remember if I sent a prior email on this subject - but as an
image-maker (artist/photographer) I'd vote that the plaque be granite and
have photo etching - because a) it is the style of the region -b) because an
image makes it harder to pass by without noticing c) a face personalizes,
makes specific and easier to relate to. Take into account that the tide of
public opinion turned against the war in Viet Nam because of two images -
the girl whose clothes were torn off by napalm and the Vietcong getting a
bullet to his head - all the reams of text in all the newspapers didn't have
the iconic power of those two images.
