Can not contain myself any longer so will tell you this little story:
I was on my way to CZ and asking friends to donate books that I could
ship/take to CZ Municipal Library as they were opening a section for English books.
A Jewish friend (who had a huge library in her elegant home) called me one
night before my trip and went into a tirade about how could I possibly be
asking for anything "for those people"...she went into the history of the
holocaust in Ukraine; I will spare you her details as you know them all. When I got
off the phone I was hysterical. Rudy grabbed me by the shoulders and said,
"You call your friend back and tell her, "I was there and I want her to know
there were good Ukrainians and bad Ukrainians, just like there were good
Jews and bad Jews."
If Rudy, with all the horror he experienced in Transnystria could say this,
then......
