Highlights from annals:(From the Russian text)
     The original Cyrillic does not copy - sorry.

 1903 — Creation of first football club
 1910 — Population : Jews -one third out of 84,000

 1914-1917 — Russian occupation (multiple)

   1918 — Czernowitz becomes Rumanian.
    1940 — Red Army occupies Czernowitz

     1944, 29 March —The town is liberated

 1991, Sept 8 On the Rathaus the blue-yellow flag is raised

            Here is how History of our town is highlighted by the locals:
     from 1940 till 1944 nothing much happened. If something did happen
     it wasn't worthy mentioning.
      For instance : The Second World War,
                          The Jewish Ghetto
                         The Deportations
                           The Exodus of the Jews
    But the founding of the first soccer club is there !
