Mitropolitul Bucovinei din perioada 1940-1945, IPS Tit Simedrea, va fi al
56-lea roman care va fi onorat de statul Israel cu titlul de "Drept intre
Popoare" pe baza unui dosar ce se afla acum pentru analiza la Autoritatea
Martirilor Holocaustului si a Comemorarii Eroilor "Yad Vashem" de la
Ierusalim. Meritul mitropolitului de la Cernauti, sustinut de mai multi
supravietuitori evrei, este acela de a-si fi folosit influenta si chiar
riscat pozitia si libertatea pentru a salva mai multe persoane in perioada
Holocaustului. Independent de dosarul de la Yad Vashem, Centrul de Istorie a
Evreilor din cadrul Federatiei Comunitatilor Evreiesti din Romania a
descoperit recent documente de arhiva care intaresc imaginea de "salvator" a
IPS Tit Simedrea.
