Hi all, as far as i know the "stumblestones" idea failed because of health
and safety regulations and concerns. I personally would not like to be
associated with something that could cause falls and injuries to residents
of Czernowitz. As Hardy so rightly pointed out, they have enough of a proble=
m
with the state of roads and footpaths. Also,i have already received emails
giving me lists of names to be inscribed and I will be speaking to Mr
Kynylych next week as I promised to do....will pass on information as soon
as i have any! Cornel

The messages from Christian and Lilian Madfes and the interest shown
by many members of our list in the Stumblestones ( "Stolpersteine")
have convinced me that this matter should be discussed with Mr. Kylynych
on a joint basis for all of us. Someone could collect the names of
all those who want to have a family member commemorated and once we know
how many of us are interested, could write Mr. Kylynych, tell him this
and request further information.

The economic situation in the Ukraine and in Chernivtsi is very bad.
By having these stones inscribed and placed as described, we would both
commemorate the names of relatives and friends who died in the Holocaust
and at the same time help the city, when it badly needs our help.

Mimi
