With reference to the e-mail of 21 March, and the above link, it shows a
photo from Heinz Kehlmann's book "So weit nach Westen" (from Czernowitz
nach New York) published by "Rimbaud" in Germany. (ISBN 3-89086-716-2)
Heinz Kehlmann, left in the photo, is shown with his wife Lilly (nee
Ausländer), her sister Ninon and Ninon's husband, the Nobel-prize winner
author and poet Hermann Hesse. It is a well-written biography, edited
from his hand-written notes after his death, an interesting document of
the difficult times between the two world wars. It is in German,
unfortunately it has not yet been translated.

My father's family was good friends with the Ausländers in Czernowitz,
and so were their children, and their friendship lasted over all the
years of their lives.
Dr. Jakob Ausländer was a defence lawyer and President of the Chamber of
Law/ Magistrate (?)in Czernowitz.
P.S. Since I can't read the Hebrew text, I tried to explain some things.
By the way, this month's "Die Stimme" renders the text of Ruth Gold's
speech at the UN in English. In the past years they also publish a page
in English.

As to the cemetery, Mimi's endeavour and energy is very praiseworthy.
Moreover, before we adventure in setting up this organization, and
obtainin the
pertinent information, we should calculate the costs, which might
amount to many thousands of dollars, and establish how they can be
raised. Also,
we must make sure that the Czernowitz authorities give us/the
organization free hand inside the cemetery once all other formalities
are completed.
Regards, and success,
Gabriele
