Good morning and happy passover! I am new to the Czernowitz list and am
looking for information on the DAVIDOWICZ family. I found in the 1909 City
Directory my grandfather, Sigmund DROBNER who lived next door to the person
I believe was his mother-in-law, Helene DAVIDOWICZ. There were other
DAVIDOWICZ's listed but I have no information about extended family. The
story I was told was my gf, who was born in Uman, fled his town to avoid
being drafted into the Russian Army. He stopped in Czernowitz, married
Sally DAVIDOWICZ probably in 1908 and left for New York in 1912. My aunt,
Etta DROBNER was born in Czernowtiz in 1910. If anyone has any information
about this family or the location of marriage, birth and death records, I
would appreciate it.
