Dear Members,
Some time ago a picture of the Synagogue in the Nikolausgasse was
circulated amongst us. You can find it now on
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/new/temp/SynagogeNikolausgasse.jpg
My great-grandfather was Mordche Korn, a wealthy owner of estates
in the Bukowina. He died in Vienna during WWI, and I remember as a boy, that
his
children dedicated to his memory what was then called a Beit-Hamidrash in
the Nikolausgasse.
Could this have been the a/m Synagogue, which might also have been called
"The Korn Shul"?
If so, please let me know.
If not, does anybody know details about that Korn Beit Hamidrash or Korn
Shul in the Nikolausgasse?
Thanks,
Joel Aloni
