Hardy,

I am certain that the Soviets blew up the Boerse building. I was familiar
with that building because my grandfather was a member and I had visited
there a few times. Also, I was one of the last to bring in my aunt's radio
which, like all radios at that time was a big box and I had to use a cart or
"taczka". The building was full with Telefunken, Phillips, Blaupunkt,
Ingelen, and other brands, perhaps over 10,000. I don't know whether the
Soviets set off additional explosives in the direction of the Ringplatz, but
they were known to underestimate the effects of intentional explosions. For
instance, they tried to level the ruins of the Temple in Cz. and, after
blowing out the windows over a large radius, gave up with the reasult that
most of the walls are there to this day. I recall passing through that area
a couple of days after the Germans and Romanians marched in and seeing the
destroyed Postgasse and one side if the Ringplatz.

Regards,

Fred Schneider
