With regard to the workers clearing the cemetery, if they are paid only
on completed work, it doesn't matter how they go about the job or how
long they take, providing we have no concern about seeing the job done
during what is left of our lifetimes.

Regarding technique, I
am no woodsman, and presumably none of us are, but years ago I went up
into the Canadian wilds with Bobby Rosenfeld, a professional gold
prospector who was built like a small tank. Bobby needed stakes to
mark off property claims he was going to register. Armed with a big
axe, sharp as a razor, he attacked saplings with that axe as if it were
a butter knife, quickly cutting off all the tree's branches. Then he
chopped off the sapling itself to use as a stake. Never did he ask me
to hold the tree for him so that it wouldn't fall on him. They may do
things differently in the Ukraine.
