Hello Cornel,

If you go to the opening of this exhibition, you may meet people who might
be able to inform you, whether Romania is willing to restore or pay for the
restoration of Jewish Synagogues which it intentionally partially or wholly
destroyed during WW2. I am of course thinking of the "Tempel" in Czernowitz.
Since the trustees of the Mihai Eminescu Trust are funding this exhibition,
you might remind them that Eminescu lived for some years in Czernowitz.
It will also be interesting to know what Romania is doing in order to
preserve the synagogues in Dorna Vatra, Campulung and Gura Humorului.

In Hungary, I have visited a number of smaller towns in which the former
Jewish synagogues have been turned into city museums, with full
acknowledgement that these buildings were formerly synagogues.
I believe that if Romania would be willing to pay for the restoration of
the "Tempel", It could be turned to some dignified use, such as a museum.
