Hi All,
We try to understand why the Christian cemetery is in a better condition
than the Jewish.
In my opinion it is a question of layout.
The Jewish cemetery density of graves is much bigger than the Christian.
There is much more open space and sun on the Christian cemetery.
This is typical to all old Jewish cemeteries in Europe and may be
attributed to imposed restriction in space.
               This caused maintenance problems .
Thanks to Cornel I got Rheinold Czarny's letter on the subject.
His grandfather is buried there and his grave was damaged.
He tells a story of grave robbery on the Christian cemetery that is
hard to believe but true, nevertheless:

It works like this : Old ,neglected graves are being broken open,
the remains and headstones removed and the grave is then sold for reuse.

So that 2009 Ukrainean inscribed graves appear among the old
    German,Polishand others.
All this depite the fact that the cemetery is closed to use and under
      Memorial protection law.
Approaching the administration the answer was that these were old ,
         neglected graves...

Of this affliction the Jewish Cemetery has been spared for obvious
reasons:
No non-Jewish family, in their right mind, would want their beloved
buried among Jews.
Sometimes it is good to be a Jew !

       Hardy
