Hi to all,
To emphasize the relations between Israel and Communist Romania, especially
under the Ceausescu's autocracy (1965-1989), I remember the reaction of the
former Israeli ambassador to Romania ABA GEFEN, when Ceausescu has been
sacked by the Romanian people on December 1989.
By referring to the solidarity of the Romanian-Israelis with the Romanian
revolution, Mr. ABA GEFEN which is from POLISH origin and a MAPAI nominee
had said: I can't understand this solidarity because CEAUSESCU was a good
partner for our businesses.
This was the "realpolitik" of a real MAPAINIC who accepted that the Romanian
people should be ruled by a cruel and mad TIRAN in the name of the "good
relations".
Best regards,
Emil Hitzig
P.S. Thanks to MIMI for correcting me in the English spelling.

For the sake of those who do not know Romanian:
I had written about the commemorative stone erected to the Jewish people
massacred by Valeriu Carp and his minions:
Such a poor miserable stone they erected? And they are not ashamed?
Why only now? Where was the Romanian state for 69 years?
Emil Hitzig answered:
The state of Romania was during the Ceausescu years, exactly where
the state of Israel was; namely, it ignored the Holocaust of the Jews of
Romania, collaborating with the communist regime of Romania, which was
interested in not being included in the list of criminal states.
In 1994, I visited the Beit Hatfutzot museum in Tel-Aviv and neither
Romanian Jewry nor the Holocaust of Romanian Jewry was represented anywhere.
In Israel the monopoly of the Holocaust is in the hands of the Polish Jews.
The same at Yad Vashem and in the press.
Like in Israel, in Romania, our Holocaust was not discovered until after the
fall of the Ceausescu regime.
All I can say about comparing Israel to Romania, is: "Le-havdil" (Hebrew and
Yiddish: with a difference).
As to comparing and acknowledging the suffering of various communities;
this is a subject I do not want to discuss.
