I have received a letter from Julia Myasyshcheva, the coordinator of SVIT
Ukraine in which she included a preliminary draft of the
announcement/advertisement for the work-camp at the Jewish cemetery of
Chernivtsi. I copy it below.

Mirror of history preserve Jewish cemetery in Chernivtsi

10.08.-27.08.2009 Chernivtsi, Ukraine

The project aims to preserve historic Jewish cemetery in Chernivtsi, raise
awareness of participants on history of 2nd World war and Holocaust with the
example of the community of Chernivtsi and especially its Jewish part,
contribute to development of intercultural competences of participants and
raise awareness of local community of Chernivtsi about importance of
preserving the cemetery. International group of volunteers from 10 countries
will work together to clean the territory of the cemetery from weeds and
bushes, prepare paths and install information signs. Participants will also
learn about history and multi-ethnic background of Chernivtsi, role of
Jewish community and changes which 2nd World war brought to the city, and
Jewish community in particular. The work-camp will be finalized with
international youth seminar in order to develop common vision of preserving
the cemetery and its memory, discuss outcomes of the work-camp and plan next
steps and activities on the cemetery.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I do not think we could ask for better. So far 12 volunteers from 10
different countries have registered to participate in the work-camp.
