Dear All,

A few weeks ago, I asked whether there were members of this list who wanted
to contribute money towards hiring an additional man with a chain saw to
help the volunteers of SVIT Ukraine in their work of clearing the cemetery
of sapling trees. Quite a number of you responded positively and I promised
to send them the name and address of the bank and account number, to which
they could send their contribution.

I have now heard from Julia Myasyshcheva of SVIT Ukraine, that they will not
be able to hire a second man and therefore cannot accept contributions for
this purpose.

Please all those who had intended to contribute towards hiring an additional
worker, put this money aside, it may be needed for a work-camp next year, or
for work to be done by professionals to erect the gravestones which have
fallen or threaten to fall. This year the SVIT Ukraine work-camp is being
financed by the Batory Foundation, but we do not know whether there will be
any financial aid for next year.

We of the Czernowitz-List, can show our gratitude to SVIT Ukraine and the
young people who have volunteered this year, to clear the cemetery of the
rampant vegetation which threatens to destroy it, by writing to both the
volunteers and to SVIT Ukraine and expressing our gratitude. Last year, some
of us did this after the work-camp was finished. It was suggested that this
year we do so at the start of the work-camp, which is on August 10th.

Please consider the praiseworthy and generous intentions and actions of both
SVIT Ukraine and the young volunteers and write suitable letters.
Please send the letters to my Email address and in the subject line write
"Thank you letters". Please mail them to me before July 30.

Mimi
