Dear Mrs. Lenka,
I thought my good old friend Yitzhak Yalon (formerly Jablonower) could help
in finding the roots of the Chaim Jablonower family. It seems that there is
no connection. He is a grandson of Berl Jablonower who came to Bukowina from
Galitzia (from a small town called Jablonow, not far from Kolomiya). He
thinks that all the Jablonowers adopted the name of that town when a new law
required every Jewish family to adopt a family name, so all of them decided
"Jablonower". There were several Jablonower families in Bukowina, most of
them in the south, where there were many timber saw-mills. May be other
Cz-L. members could help.
All the best, Abraham K.

Subject: [Cz-L] Question

Hello everybody!

I am quite new to this group and only a reader :) You may remember me only
from my annoying "out off office replies", which come to you when I am on
holliday, and are in Czech language. Please, accept my apologies for that.

I joined your group because my grandmother Emma Jablonover came from
Czernowitz and I wanted to gather some information about her hometown. May I
ask you for a favour? If any of you came accros the name Jablonover during
your Czernowitz research, please, let me know.

Family details: My great-grandfather (Emma´s father) was Chaim Jablonover
and worked in a saw-mill. He and his wife Chaja had four daughters: Regina,
Hermina, Paula and Emma. I only have a little info, but it seems they all
left before the 2.WW. Emma and parents went to Czech republic and the rest
of the girls to the USA and Chile.

I know there is a small chance, but I thought I would try anyway.

Have a nice day all of you!

Lenka Treglova-Altrichterova
