Dear all,
The Google maps, satellite map of the Jewish cemetery was photographed
in March 2009. By comparing this map with the official cemetery map it is
possible to decide which areas of the cemetery had been cleared or were
relatively less overgrown than many others in March 2009.
Area #29, very close to the ceremonial hall and to the west of it, is kept
clear at all times. Area #32 (the small area further west) was cleared by
the SVIT volunteers last summer, so was part of area #31, further north.
We know from Edgar Hauster's GPS map that they cleared area #33, #53 and
#54.
Julia Myasyshcheva wrote me that they, then continued to work northward
Clearing areas 59,60, 75,76,81, 82, 98, 99, 104,105,119,120 till the end
(areas 125,126,133,134).
If they really cleared all these areas, they cleared a strip 50m wide
starting with area #33 at the main path and going north for 200m.
This is one hectare and together with the area cleared by the volunteers
of SVIT constitutes just over 8% of the total area which needs to be
cleared.
