I apologize for not being clear, Chassidic Rebbes held (and do so today as
well) court much in the way that aristocrats did, they had a court or group
made up of gabbaim, shamashim he would attend to their personal needs and
act like secretaries help answering phone calls & correspondence and wrie
out the kvitel which is a note that contains names and petition of those
requesting blessings and advice. Then there were the chassidic followers who
lived in the Rebbe's own town and would pray and learn in his shul, shteibel,
beis midrash synagogue/study hall etc. And off course visitors chassidim &
nonchasidim who traveled to meet the rebbe, hear his teachings, pray with
him and recieve his advice & blessings
be well good shabbos
