Yes Fred,
I remember the Jewish Theatre at the Scala . Here are two more plays :
Goldfaden's Der farkischefter Schneider and Die Kishefmacherin .
As to Czernowitzerisch Deutsch - very soon it will become a dead
language -
as the last Mohicans vanish from the scene.

Gute Czernowitzer

Does anybody remember the Jewish theater or its embryonic start. I remember
3 plays "The 2 Kuni Lamel","Tevie the Milichiger and the russian inspired
"Die Partizanen"
Soon after Jewish cultural endeavours were snuffed out as antisemitism
Russian style took place and the Jewish cultural expressions discouraged.

Also a peculiarity about the Czernowitzer Deutsch. A dialect which gave
Czernowitz its own expressions
and exclusivity, the only similarity I found in the coloquial Swiss german
to my suprise. The interesting inclusion of Yidish expression as part in
parcel was an example of Czernowitzer Deutsch. I lived in Austria and
Switzerland Zurich traveled through various parts of Germany in areas where
I aquired some knowledge of dialects.Czernowitzer Deutsch was a class on its
own.

Thank you for your varied receipies and descriptions regarding "Mostaepfel".
Cider seem to be the closest but the aples had to be half cooked to absorb
the cider. Yes I may give it a try and see what eventuate.

Wisst Ihr was das es alles doch ist Kapusta und Kwass
