This is quite a map! My mother's family business is actually listed under
Bader, Romerbad. I had no idea it was that old. When I was in Czernowitz
last April we learned that the property was in the middle of a court battle
between two owners. One person received it during the Soveit time and one
who supposedly bought it after the Soviets left. I actually saw and took
pictures of the book that listed property owners thinking that if there was
ever a chance to reclaim the property I should have proof. It showed my
great grandparents as the owners.
Do you think there's any possibility that we could make a claim to it?
P.S. Last week, after paying the Director of the Archives $200 dollars, (he
originally wanted $7,000), I finally received the file of my grandfather's
arrest and imprisonment. His family built Romerbad. My friend at the
Holocaust museum said he has seen thousands of criminal cases brought
against people by the Soviets and this was the least amount of evidence he
had ever seen. Quite a saga! If my grandfather hadn't been sentenced for
"nothing" I wouldn't be alive!
