[Cz-L] Announcing our new book

Dear Czernowitz friends,

  We are so happy to let you know that our book Ghosts of Home: The
Afterlife of Czernowitz in Jewish Memory is out!!

  Although it will be not be officially launched by the University of
California Press http://www.ucpress.edu/books/pages/11263.php until
January 4, 2010, we have just received our advanced copy and the book
will be in warehouses this week. (If you wish to order it, you can
use Source Code 09M3491 for a 20% discount).

  As many of you know, we have been working on this book for some
years now, and we have benefitted greatly from discussions and
postings on this list, from the ehpes website, as well as from the
help so many of you have generously offered us in the form of stories,
images, and advice. The book certainly would not have been the same
without you and your help is not only duly acknowledged in the
preface, but our group also forms part of the narrative.

  We hope that you will find that Ghosts of Home reflects your own
vision and memory of Czernowitz and we invite you all to participate
in an online conversation about it we are launching on the blog www.ghostofhome.com
  or here.

  We cordially invite any of you in the New York area to come to our
book party on January 21, 6-8, at 523 Butler Library, Columbia
University in New York.

  In the coming months, we will be reading from the book and speaking
about Czernowitz in various venues (announced on the blog) and we
would very much welcome your presence and participation at these
events. If any of you know of institutions that would be interested in
a talk on Czernowitz or in a book event, please let us know. And if
any of you would be interested in reviewing the book, we would be
thrilled.
