[Cz-L] Ghosts of Home

Czernowitzers! This morning the postman delivered Marianne Hirsch and Leo
Spitzer's book,title as above and subtitle"The Afterlife of Czernowitz in
Jewish Memory". It is now late in the day and I have read the book in one
sitting. I read, and felt I was back in Czernowitz..almost symptoms of
homesickness! This is a book that should be in the home of every
Czernowitzer ,and more importantly on the bookshelves of the descendants
of Czernowitzers to explain why this "Eckwelt" town has such a grip on
our memories and our " Weltanschaung".the way we look at ourselves and
others. Read it!! Cornel.
