I remember in yiddish language, raspberry or rose petal syrup was prepared
"of nischt zu bedarfen,"
imtending that syrup was used to be given to somebody sick. Therefore, it
was made"of nischt zu bedarfen," not to be used, hoping that no one would be
sick.
