I appeal to you in a problem for a friend of mine, we know each other
since we were 12 years old, that means, more than 20 years….!!
His parents and he were deported to Transnistria, from Czernowitz.
In 1944, someone brought some hundred orphan children from Transnistria,
(which were taken from Czernowitz, may be from another town, but surely
from Bukovina) to the synagogue in Bacau, a town in the Northern part of
Romania, in vicinity to Bukovina.
The Jewish community announced about those children and Jewish people
came to take them, to adopt them. May be ,that Filderman, a rich and
influential Jew from Bacau, helped in this action.
This child was 3 years old, was adopted in 1944 by a couple from Bacau,
Rosenberg Max and Cecilia.
They named him also Benis, after a grandfather, but they called him
Isiu, his really name.
They never wanted to speak with him about his origin. His father died
many years ago and his mother is not able to remember things.
It is a woman in Israel which remembers those orphan children from the
synagogue in 1944 and she followed about this child when she lived in
Bacau, because she was there when the orphans arrived in Bacau and she
helped there. She was 13-14 years old in those times. They are also some
Isiu's relatives which know about the adoption, but they are old and
don't remember a lot about this subject.
My friend, Isiu Benis Rosenberg, began to make investigation about his
origin and he received some lists with the orphan children which arrived
to Bacau in 1944, from the Jewish Community from Bacau.
On those lists is a name of a little boy, Lifsches Isiu, parents Adolf
and Frieda. The age, on those list, is one year old, but he was born in
1941, he was very short, so they thought that he was one year old,
until today, he is very short.
On the list names from http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/
1898/1909/1914 City Directories - Czernowitz & Suburbs Travel to
Czernowitz
1914 City Directory - Czernowitz & Suburbs,
we found a man named: Lifshes Iacob,
which we suppose that he is the father from Lifsches Adolf, the
grandfather from Isiu Benis Rosenberg.
I would like to ask you, if it is possible, to publicize in your site,
in Cz-L Archives or where you think it will be better, if it is someone
who knows or remember something about the Lifsches family, Adolf and
Frieda, deported in Transnistria. They died there, we don't know if Isiu
was born in Czernowitz or Transnistria.
May be that Lifsches Iacob was Adolf's father (his name appear in the
Czernowitz site), Adolf and Frieda perished in Transnistria.
Isiu Benis Rosenberg is 68 years old, he lives in Kiriat Gat- Israel, he
is married and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
Isiu Benis Bosenberg and I will be very grateful if you will publish
this question, I don't know where and how to do this in the Czernowitz
site.
This announces can be on my name and Isiu's name, on our mail address.
