Very early picture of Russischegass ,before the Peter and Paul church got
the
  onion cupolas.
On the pavement on the right side - a dignified gentleman strides with a
cane.
Most likely jewish. On the opposite side a local peasant.
The shop on the right hand belongs to Mr. Rebarber and he is a taileur.
Meaning that he was a tailor. But for the newly rich - taileur sounded
better.
(There is no such word as taileur with a single "l".)
There is also a shield in Yiddish to this effect.
