Dear Edgar,

Thank you for your continuing work on the Czernowitz directories. These
directories help us ascertain facts we are not sure of and also are a
valuable commentary on the history of Czernowitz.
I agree with you, that the 1927 edition might be, the most interesting to
transcribe next , possibly followed by the 1898 one, which would have the
addresses of people who left Czernowitz, or died in the early part of the
20th century.

As to the street names, you could not allocate; I think I can help you with
one name. My parents and I, also my grandparents, lived on Str. Cronicarul
Neculcea, a short street, parallel to the Str. Stefan cel Mare and close to
the Volksgarten. Even though this was the official name of the street,
everyone called it Schmidt Gasse. I think that this might have been the
" Strada Prelat Schmidt". My grandparents had the house they lived in and
the factory they owned, as well as one store, built there and moved in,
in the year 1924.

I remember that friends of my parents lived on the Masarik Gasse.
I do not remember definitely, where this street was, but believe it was in
the area, which is the triangle formed by the Str. Stefan cel Mare, Str.
Mihai Viteazu and Bu. Regele Carol II.
